MISSION STATEMENT

Who is the CRF - what do they do?

CRF is the hub of resident involvement

As the new Chair of Chelmer Residents’ Forum (CRF) I would like to give you some information about CRF so you have a better understanding of why we exist.  CRF is made up of tenants, leaseholders and shared owners. Elected residents make up the Central Forum.

CRF was set up just after CHP took over the Chelmsford Borough Council housing stock. It had a very important role to play making sure CHP kept to the promises made at transfer.

Since then, CRF has continued to work with CHP, being the central body for ensuring resident consultation.

Over the years CHP has found that residents want a variety of ways that suit them in order to be involved with shaping the services they receive. Making sure CHP has plenty of opportunities to suit residents and that service changes are done in consultation with residents is one of our main roles.

I am delighted that we have a constructive and co-operative partnership with CHP, but Central Forum of CRF will hold CHP accountable if major changes are made without consultation with residents.

Although funded by CHP from our rent money, CRF is largely independent from them. We have our own constitution that ensures that the hub of resident involvement in CHP is under independent control.

We welcome residents to sign up to CRF to ensure that we continue to represent you. We do not expect you to attended meetings, but if you want to you will be made welcome. Any resident of CHP who is involved in any way in consulting with CHP will be supported by CRF.  We want to make sure that we represent everyone and in order to do that we need to hear your views and give you the opportunity to talk to us. We ask you to support us by joining CRF.  If you want to know more please get in touch with the Resident Involvement Team by email: residentsupportofficer@chp.org.uk or by phoning 01245 613074.
